Job Description:

The Watershed and Climate Resilience Specialist will be responsible for:

1. Climate Resilience Implementation: Develop and implement climate resilience strategies within the AIYA project framework.
2. Training and Capacity Building: Create training materials and manuals to enhance the skills and knowledge of the project team and local partners.
3. Watershed Management: Promote sustainable watershed management practices that benefit youth and local communities.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to integrate climate resilience into project activities.

Assessment:

 Conduct assessments to identify vulnerabilities and opportunities related to climate resilience in target provinces.

Strategy Formulation:

 Develop comprehensive strategies for integrating climate resilience into project activities, ensuring alignment with AIYA objectives.

Training Material Development:

 Design and produce high-quality training materials and manuals tailored to the needs of project staff and local partners. 

 Capacity Building Workshops:

 Organize and facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance the knowledge and skills of the project team in climate resilience and watershed management.

Mentorship:

 Provide ongoing support and mentorship to project staff and partners to reinforce learning and application of climate resilience practices.

Sustainable Practices: Promote sustainable watershed management practices that improve the livelihoods of youth and local communities.
Community Engagement: Engage with local communities to raise awareness about the importance of watershed conservation and climate resilience.
Monitoring Framework: Develop and implement a monitoring framework to assess the effectiveness of climate resilience activities.
Impact Assessment: Conduct regular evaluations to measure the impact of interventions on youth livelihoods and community resilience.
Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with local governments, NGOs, and community organizations to ensure that climate resilience strategies are effectively integrated into broader development initiatives.
Reporting: Prepare and present reports on climate resilience activities and outcomes to project management and stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.

_ Minimum of 5 years of experience in climate resilience, watershed management, or related fields, preferably in development projects.
 _Technical Skills: Strong understanding of climate resilience strategies, watershed management practices, and capacity-building methodologies.
 _ Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
 _Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and proficiency in local languages, such as Dari and Pashto
